Stay up late for this extra perk - time in the parks with very low crowds
Extended Evening Hours Review

Summary:

  • Extra time in the parks after the general public leaves. Only available on select nights
  • No cost for this perk
  • For guests of Deluxe and Deluxe Villa hotels, Swan/Dolphin/Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green only
  • My preference over early entry

What are Extended Evening Hours?

Extended evening hours allow you to stay in the parks for a couple hours past the general public. The timing varies, but is usually about 2-3 extra hours. It’s currently available at all four parks, and you can find a list of available rides here on Disney’s website.

Please note - this perk is only available to guests of Deluxe and Deluxe Villa hotels, Swan/Dolphin/Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green. Other Disney hotel guests and the general public can experience extra time in the parks at night via the After Hours events. Those are essentially the same idea, but at a cost.

How Did I spend the Time?

I experienced the extended evening hours at Epcot. We used this time to go on the most popular rides with no or minimal waits; we basically walked on everything, and if we did wait it was no more than 10 minutes. We rode the following rides during this time:

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
  • Guardian’s of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Journey of Water
  • Soarin’ Around the World
  • Spaceship Earth

The biggest perk of this time is the capacity is much lower so the crowds are basically non-existent. Below is a picture I took at the start of the evening showing how empty it was. This helped make the experience very enjoyable.

Is it Worth it?

If you are already going to be staying at an eligible hotel, then yes it is very much worth it. I really enjoyed having a chill experience without having to navigate crowds or stand in line. If you’re not planning to stay at an eligible hotel, then don’t change your plans to get this perk. The exception is if you are considering staying at the Swan/Dolphin/Swan Reserve. Then this might be enough to sway you.
